Time for a truth bomb: women are far less likely to negotiate their job offer than men. Crazy, we know. Since our VirtForce community is primarily women (92% women, 8% men), we want to take the time to teach you how to develop your negotiation skills. Remember: once you receive that offer letter, you could be negotiating for a variety of things. You could be negotiating for higher pay, more paid vacation time, fully-remote work, or a guarantee that your job will be secure through a PCS.
In this episode, Kimber walks listeners through specific scenarios and gives you the tips and tricks to navigate each one (hint: not everything is negotiable).

Let’s go back and reread that last paragraph. Did you notice we said “once you receive that offer letter”? This is such an important part of negotiating - knowing the right time to bring up money and the strategies you can use to be successful.
One of the most important things to understand is that not everything is negotiable. You have to learn to use your best judgment and know when negotiation is and isn’t on the table.
Once you understand that (don’t worry, we’ll tell you what to look for), you’ll start to see where there is room to negotiate. This episode is bursting at the seams with specific scenarios, strategies to use, and fully-laid out timelines to support you as you negotiate your way through your career.
